Dear Friends,

Next year we will celebrate a very special anniversary: 40 Years of IFFR Germany/Austria.

Please save the date:

27–30 May 2027 – Nuernberg, Germany

Preparations for our anniversary meeting are already underway. Our friend and fellow IFFR member Thomas Fink, who was born in Nuernberg, is supporting me with the local arrangements and the preparation of our programme.

We would like to introduce you to Nuernberg’s history and culture as well as its Franconian way of life. Our plans include a guided tour of the historic Old Town, a visit to the Documentation Center at the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds and, subject to final arrangements, further activities relating to Albrecht Duerer, the Future Museum and Nuernberg’s historic underground rock passages.

Franconian cuisine will of course also be part of the programme, including the famous Nuernberg sausages and Schäufele. We are also planning a more festive evening to celebrate our 40th IFFR anniversary together on Friday evening.

For those arriving by private aircraft, we are planning to use Albrecht Duerer Airport Nuernberg (EDDN). The airport has a 2,700 × 45 m runway, standard approach procedures and good facilities for General Aviation. We plan to meet at the airport around midday on Thursday, 27 May 2027, where we will start our weekend together with a small welcome snack.

Nuernberg is also easily accessible by scheduled airline and by train. We are planning to stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, conveniently located close to the historic Old Town and the main railway station. The underground service between the airport and the city centre runs every 10 minutes and takes approximately 13 minutes.

The following hotel rates are currently planned for our group:

  • Double room including breakfast: €119 per night
  • Single room including breakfast: €109 per night

To help us with the next stage of planning – particularly the hotel arrangements, programme and arrivals by private aircraft – we would appreciate a short, non-binding indication of your intention to participate. This is not yet a binding registration.

Further information about the final program, hotel reservations and binding registration will follow in due course.

I very much look forward to celebrating this special anniversary with you in Nuernberg.

Happy landings
