Updated several pages. Created a News Archive page for all the news in 2010, this can be reached from links at the top or bottom of the news page. Added the latest News Bulletin letters from the UK section to the Newsletters page. Created a NOTAM page for letters from the President. Currently, this page is not live, as only one NOTAM so far. As new NOTAM's are produced, the older ones will be moved across. Added a AVweb news item to the news page after receiving conformation we are OK to reproduce selected items as long as they are credited, linked back and copyrighted. Changed the width of the main column as some of the more text intensive pages were getting too long to keep scrolling. It also gives additional room on the top bar to add an additional menu link in the future.

Links page updated. Additional links added, along with logo's for key sites. All links checked and two broken links removed. General housekeeping performed on the back end code for the page. XHTML cleaned up and some tags removed.

Organising Events page completely updated. Uploaded the re-formatted documents for event organisers and participants in pdf format. Created a ZIP file to enable organisers to be able to download all documents in one go, saving time and ensuring all correct documents received in one package. Links on various pages updated to the new Organising Events page. Documents re-formatted in line with RI Standards for colours and fonts and page count reduced to save resources. All documents now have a issue date, document number and issue number.

Hi rez IFFR logo uploaded in eps format to the Resources page, along with a colour guide for the correct use of the IFFR logo in line with Rotary International standards.

Information for event organisers added in a new page "Organising Events". The two forms have also been added, with small images of the forms as links as well as embedding links into the text..

Newsletters page - archive of UK section newsletters going back to 2000 added. New layout to shorten overall page length.

New link "News" added to the top menu bar and removed from the quick links menu at the bottom right of all pages. The overall width of the web page was increased by 20 px to allow for the insertion of the new link. The column on the right hand side of the pages was retained at the same width and the main content area expanded by 20px. Borders and margins remain the same.

Icon now added, so a small "IFFR.org" icon in blue should appear in the web browser address bar or on the browser tab. Individual page titles now corrected and sitemap.xml file created and uploaded.

New web site LIVE!

After two days of intensive testing, the new web site is on line. If you have any problems viewing the new site, please email me by clicking on "webmaster" above giving me details of the problem. The old site will be available again shortly as an archive although it will not be updated with new information.

ISSUE: There 'may" be an issue when viewing the web site using IE6 on a windows PC's. The IFFR logo on the top bar will have a gray background. This is a known problem with IE6. The problem does not occur with any version of Opera, Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome on PC's. IE4, IE5, IE7 and IE8 are also not affected.

Web site checked for "one click away" compliance. ("One Click Away" means you should never be more than one click away from any page, no matter what page you are on) All external links should open in a new browser or a new browser tab if your browser supports this feature.

Google Calendar created and embedded into new "Events" Page. Testing of calendar ongoing.

Added PDF and Word Doc flight plan forms to the "Resources" page. Corrected code error in CSS so that all links work with the <hover> command.

Uploaded existing documents to the "Resources" page. Will consider adding a downloadable ICAO flight plan form and a UK GAR for pilots flying in to the UK.

Created new page "Resources" as the main area for forms, guides, downloads. Installed "Resources" link in the "Quick Menu" area of each page. The idea is you are never more than one click away from the page you want to be on.

Hover links test for all main links on each page created and uploaded. Tested using Safari and Google Chrome.

Created "Newsletter" page and uploaded all the past newsletters as pfd files. Tested locally and on IFFR server. All OK.

Changed base code so the pages are all XHTML compliant. Also changed elements of the css to allow the site to be used as a template for any other IFFR section. Adapted code to allow Google Language Translation of all pages. Meta Tags need updating to make it easier to find through search engines.

"Quick Links" sub menu area now embedded into each page. Backed up whole new site locally... around 32 hours of coding time. Sorted out issues with the main menu grid at the top not hi lighting correctly the page you are on or the mouse-over action - error in the <li class="t"> code.

Cleaned up all the sub menus and checked links are working. Updated the "about this page" area on all main pages to be meaningful. Need to check spelling on all pages.... do I opt for English spelling or US spelling?

Checked all links on main pages, most OK, some links to repair. Linked into external galleries for some of the events. Changed these to open in a new browser window. Added code on IFFR Gallery pages to generate error codes to report internally back to the server.

Second batch of test galleries loaded along with photos. Tested on local server and IFFR server. All working OK. Around 2000 photos to index from old web site..

Photo gallery page coded and flash gallery script integrated. "Close Window" button embedded in the flash page. Test photos uploaded. Photo folder uploaded to server.
