Americas AGM and AOPA Expo, San Jose, California

 

 

Dear IFFR Members,

 

AMERICAS REGION AND SOUTHWEST SECTION FLY IN.

 

Tradition has it that the Americas Region of IFFR holds its annual meeting in conjunction with the AOPA Exposition each year. This year the AOPA event will be in San Jose, CA. November 6-8. All IFFR members are urged to attend.  The Fly-In airport will be Reid Hillview (RHV), about 6 miles from the hotel.

 

IFFR has made the following arrangements for those members wishing to attend.

 

HOUSING:    A block of rooms is being held at the Sainte Claire Hotel (see website for hotel info, but only book via IFFR for our room block) for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The Hotel is located next to the convention center so once you arrive, transportation to the Exhibit Hall and most meetings and events is not necessary. Room rates are $145 plus taxes for singles and doubles, $155 for triples, $165 for quads. All rooms are non-smoking and have either King, Queen, or Double beds. RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY SEPTEMBER 25TH. THRU IFFR. RESERVE YOUR ROOM NOW WITH IFFR.  Click here for online registration.  BY EMAIL or FAX (see below):  Supply the following information:  Who and how many nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday), Number of guests, Credit card type (MC or Visa.) Name as it appears on card, Card number, and expiration date. Any unreserved rooms must be released on September 26th. The entire City of San Jose is sold out and our hotel will not hold unconfirmed rooms beyond that date.

 

EVENT:    The only IFFR scheduled event is the Americas Region annual luncheon, speaker and business meeting scheduled for Friday November 7th at noon in the Marriott Hotel in Ballroom Salon 1.  The Marriott is adjacent to the convention center. Lunch will cost $30.  Menu selections are Chicken, Pasta with meat sauce, or vegetarian. Maximum seating capacity is 50 people; therefore please respond promptly, as outlined above, with your lunch/meeting reservation and your menu selection. First come, first reserved, to a maximum of 50 people.

 

Featured speaker will be AOPA President Phil Boyer who will fill us in on the current condition of General Aviation and what to be aware of in the future.

 

HOSPATILITY   Americas Region President Peter More and his charming wife Shirley will be hosting hospitality hours in their suite at the Sainte Claire Hotel. A great time for IFFR members to gather and reminisce about good events and plan new ones. Days and hours of the hospitality room will be announce later.

 

IFFR BOOTH   Once again IFFR will have a booth in the foyer directly in front of the exhibit hall. This has proven to be one of our best new membership development venues. Plan to spend some time there to help expand the world of IFFR. More to follow on this activity later.
