Saturday June 14, 2008
Arrival at Van Nuys Airport (KVNY).  Request taxi to:
Maguire Aviation (NORTH) Offers tiedown, hangars, fuel, car rental (thru Enterprise), nice lounge, pilot rest and flight planning area.  Maguire is the new owner of Million-Air, Petersen and soon Skytrails.  Ramp fees are: Singles $25, Twins $50, first day waived with 25 gal single & 50 gal twin minimum fuel purchase; fuel discount is 10 cents below posted rate.   If you book rental car through Maguire, ask for their bulk discount rate with car delivered to the ramp.  They have a large ramp and a large parking lot with easy access to the I-405 freeway.  Upon arrival, taxi to MAGUIRE NORTH (NW end of field).  See: http://www.maguireaviation.com/  Contact Shawna Sheltz, customer service manager 818-994-4990.  Identify yourself with "Flying Rotarians or IFFR".

Alternate: Santa Monica Airport KSMO, home of the DC3.  Request taxi to:
1) The TRANSIENT parking just East of the beacon ($15 singles and $30 twins).  Stop in the airport manager's office and say hello to Rotarian Bob Trimborn.
2) Atlantic Aviation (call them for rates), they can arrange rental cars. See: http://www.atlanticaviation.com/locations/smo.html
3) American Flyers $10 singles $20 twins.  The 100LL at the selfserve pump is one of the most competitive in the LA basin.  SMO is closer to the convention center but is prone to the June coastal fog.  For this reason, we made VNY our first choice.  Phone:
800-233-0808.  See: http://www.americanflyerssantamonica.net/  Noise curfew: no engine starts before 7AM weekdays and 8AM weekends.

Transportation from airport to hotel:  You have the option of 1) rent your own car, 2)take taxi to hotel, 3) arranging carpool with other fellow pilots, or 4)arrange a ride from a local Rotarian for a donation to the Foundation (contact Peter More peter@petermore.com or call 310-470-8998).
